Today we are celebrating International Woman’s Day. Here are facts and statistics to think about and to take action to change.

  1. Women earn 23% less than men earn
  2. At the current rate of change, it will take two centuries to close that wage gap.
  3. 57% of women in the US are employed
  4. 30% of women report that they have been in an abusive relationship
  5. 66% of all women in the world are illiterate
  6. Women make up only 4% of all CEO posts at S&P companies
  7. 150 countries have laws that treat men and women differently
  8. Women make up 70% of the people living in extreme poverty
  9. Women spend twice the time of men on unpaid domestic tasks
  10. 80% of human trafficking victims are women

  3. Join a group working for fair pay, child care, safe houses and other causes that benefit women.
