Martin Luther King’s Story

The Story of Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Biography Book for New Readers is a new book, published in 2020, about Martin Luther King’s life, and written for young elementary school readers.

There have been many children’s books about MLK written over the years. Teach Peace Now has reviewed and provided activities for a number of them.

What makes this one different is that this book doesn’t just cover the story of his life, but also introduces young readers to his fight against segregation and injustice. It emphasizes the reasons why everyone should be inspired by his life and continue his work.

The author Christine Platt is a lawyer, educator, and advocate for justice. She has provided a highly readable book that is rich in resources. It includes quotes, a glossary, and colorful, enticing illustrations by Steffi Walthall.
