~ Spread Peace to All ~
In a world where bombs are dropping on the innocent, where armies clash for fruitless reasons, and where misguided world leaders vie to make the world crueler, let us take a moment to consider what truly creates peace.
How to Spread Peace
In the following poem attributed to Lao-Tse, the order of verses usually goes from the world to the heart. But let us consider turning the words on their head. Let’s start with you and me. Let’s find peace in our hearts and send it outward. Let’s find peace in our homes, and take action in our communities. If we start with who we know, let us hope it will spread to those we don’t – the homeless at our doorsteps, the asylum seekers at our borders, the sick and hungry and oppressed world round.
If There Be Peace
There must be peace in the heart,
If there is to be peace in the home.
There must be peace in the home,
If there is to be peace in the community.
There must be peace in the community,
If there is to be peace in the cities.
There must be peace in the cities,
If there is to be peace among nations.
There must be peace among nations,
If there is to be peace in the world.

Yes, we must model peace to create peace. We must honor others and see their goodness for dialogue. In this holiday season, I am thankful for your continued commitment to peace. Best to you!
Peace to you too. You are the kind of teacher every child should have. Happy New Year!
