Grade Level: Elementary, Middle School and High School

Procedure: Share these selection of poems focusing on peace and justice with your students and then open a discussion using the follow up questions.

  • What emotion(s) is the poet or author feeling?
  • What emotions are you feeling after reading this?
  • What images does the poem or quote create in your mind?
  • What actions do you want to take after reading this?
  • Are there any symbols or swords that have a special meaning for you?
